Are you interested in helping Ballard High School ensure that teachers, families and students have access to the resources, tools and support they need for the best education possible? Do you have experience fundraising, coordinating or planning? The Ballard High School PTSA would like to invite you to get involved with the extraordinary PTSA that supports academics, sports and activities throughout Ballard High School.

Make a difference: The Ballard High School has opportunities for the 2017-2018 school year, either for committee members or for smaller, well-defined and short-term volunteer opportunities. Whatever your experience, chances are we have an opportunity for you to contribute. As part of the Ballard High School PTSA, you can make a difference by helping to cultivate an excellent education environment for all Ballard High School Students.

About the Ballard High School PTSA

The Ballard High School PTSA is made up of the elected positions of President(s), Vice President(s), Treasurer, and Secretary as well as the appointed positions of Volunteer Coordinator, Membership Chair, Legislative Liaison, Nominating Committee Chair, Principal, and Building Leadership Team (BLT). These positions have one seat, one vote (note that shared positions share one vote).

In addition, the Ballard High School PTSA is also made up of several standing committees. Committee chairs and members do not have a vote, but play a crucial role in the everyday work of the PTSA.

Open Elected Positions for 2017-2018:

The Ballard High School PTSA Executive Committee is made up of the elected positions of President(s), Vice President(s), Treasurer, and Secretary.  The following elected positions are open for the next school year. These positions will be nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by attendees in a PTSA Board meeting. Once elected you have the choice of serving in this position for a maximum of two years.

President:

Time commitment: 4-12 hours per month, varies busiest times of year: beginning of the year but flattens out; additional special projects
The Ballard High School PTSA President manages overall objectives and strategies of PTSA (including fundraising objectives, community building events, educational events, etc.). The president acts as liaison between parents and principal/staff, recruit and appoints PTSA Committee Chairs, create agenda and facilitates monthly PTSA Board meetings and PSTA General meetings, write periodic PTSA Beaver Beat articles, collaborates with Board and Committees to support PTSA vision, mission and goals, collaborates with Treasurer (budget and check signer), speaks at Back to School Night and other events, attends BHS PTSA meetings and state events

Vice President:

The Ballard High School PTSA Vice President will perform the duties of the President when the President is absent or unable to serve. They will plan all PTSA meeting agendas with the President and will work with all committee chairs to ensure they have all of the necessary information they need to perform their duties. Time commitment ranges from 2 to 8 hours per month depending on special projects and fundraising efforts.

Open Appointed Positions for 2017-2018:

Ballard High School PTSA Appointed Positions consist of Volunteer Coordinator, Membership Chair, Legislative Liaison, Nominating Committee Chair, and Building Leadership Team (BLT). Each position has one seat, one vote- shared positions share one vote. The following executive board positions are open for the next school year. These positions will be appointed by the Ballard High School PTSA president. Once appointed, you have the option of serving in this position for a maximum of two years.

Nominating Committee Chair

This is an excellent position to consider if you have wanted to explore how to get more involved with Ballard High School but do not have a lot of experience with the PTSA. This short term position works with the Ballard High School PTSA  to help find qualified candidates for open PTSA positions.

Membership Chair

This is another position that does not require extensive experience with the PTSA. This position helps to manage and track Ballard High School PTSA membership.

Newsletter/Social Media Coordinator

This volunteer will help coordinate outbound communication of newsworthy Ballard High School events via the PTSA newsletter and PTSA social media accounts

Ballard High School BASH Chair

The Ballard High School BASH Chair is responsible for coordinating the Ballard High School BASH, the annual auction fundraiser focused on raising funds to support academics at Ballard High School.

SPREE Coordinator

The SPREE coordinator helps to plan and coordinate the Ballard High School senior graduation party.
